Love of the outdoors came at an early age. Born upstate NY, grew up in South America (Amazon jungle). Then Mexico and Guatemala in the 1970’s.
We did a lot of fishing, hiking, hunting, etc. (Parents were missionaries)
In 1982, when I moved back to USA, my father introduced me to whitetail hunting at the age of 17. The addiction began.
A passion for bow hunting started soon after, and the fire is still burning.
In 1987 I met a beautiful girl from Spain, and married her in 1989. So began the hunting in Spain. Never dreamed there was so much hunting in Spain.
Over the past 30yrs I have been all over Spain. We have numerous ranches from Malaga (southern), Ciudad Real (central), Zamora (northern) Spain. We have seasoned guides, premium cotos(ranches), lodging and Spanish culinary delights.
I am fluent in Spanish, and our associates are also very well-versed in English.
Dave Szott Partner
Alpha International Outfitters partner Dave Szott has been an outdoor enthusiast since the first time his father took him trout fishing when he was 8 years old. The love of all things outdoors has increasingly grown since. Love of athletics- primarily football and wrestling opened opportunities to continue playing at the college level. Accepting a scholarship to play football at Penn State University placed in the geographic center of PA but also thrust him into the middle of a prominent hunting culture. Teammates at school were common partners in pursuing deer and turkey in the hills of central PA. After getting drafted to the Kansas City Chiefs and moving to Missouri for 11 years for work, this enabled Dave to immerse himself completely into some of the best deer, turkey and waterfowl hunting in the country. Though his commitment in the fall was pursuing his football career, he did manage to hunt when time allowed. Having more flexibility in the spring, Dave was able to harvest the grand slam in turkey hunting. Guiding teammates, friends and family has been apart of his life for the past 30 years.
After a successful 14 year playing career where he was named All Pro, All Madden, Walter Payton and NFL Hall of Fame nominated playing career- Dave transitioned into coaching and ultimately a long career as the Director of Player Development with the NY Jets. With the completion of a continuous stint of 35 years in the NFL, Dave is transitioning into his final career as host, guide and outfitter with Alpha International Outfitters. After experiencing Spain with his wife Andrea as guests with Dave and Elena Hansen, he fell in love with the people, topography and wildlife of Spain. Dave is married to his childhood sweetheart for over 30 years and is the father of two sons- Shane and Joshua.
